POSITION TITLE: Senior Network / Systems & Information Security Administrator
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology
LOCATION: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
REPORTS TO: GM IT (Functional and Operational)
POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Network / Systems & Information Security Administrator is responsible for leading the
design, implementation, maintenance, and security of the organization’s IT infrastructure. This role
ensures system reliability, performance, and compliance while guiding the IT operations team and
supporting business continuity efforts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. IT Infrastructure Management
• Oversee hardware, software, servers, networks, storage, and data center operations.
• Plan and implement infrastructure upgrades and lifecycle management.
• Ensure optimal system performance and availability.
2. System Administration
• Maintain and administer servers, operating systems, and enterprise applications.
• Apply system patches, security updates, and performance enhancements.
• Manage user accounts, access rights, and system configurations.
3. Network Operations & Security
• Monitor network performance and integrity.
• Implement and maintain firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools.
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
4. Incident and Change Management
• Lead incident response efforts, troubleshooting system outages and failures.
• Oversee change requests, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to ITIL practices.
• Document root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
5. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
• Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery and backup plans.
• Manage replication and failover systems to ensure operational continuity.
6. Compliance and Documentation
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, software licensing, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation: system configurations, DR plans, and SOPs.
7. Team Leadership
• Provide technical guidance to IT administrators, support staff, and cybersecurity personnel.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing, training, and continuous improvement within the team.
8. Budget and Vendor Management
• Support IT budgeting and procurement activities.
• Manage relationships with hardware, software, and service vendors.
• Evaluate vendor performance against SLAs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, and network security
• Professional certifications (e.g., Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, ITIL) preferred
• Experience managing IT teams and critical systems environments
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
• Server administration (Windows/Linux), virtualization, and storage systems
• Networking (LAN/WAN), firewalls, VPNs, and monitoring tools
• Backup systems, disaster recovery, and replication technologies
• Security frameworks, vulnerability scanning, and patch management
• Familiarity with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS) a plus
